To be admitted to the program, applicants normally will possess a Master of Divinity degree with a grade point average of at least 3.0 (B average) and three years of ministry experience.
Applicants may also be considered for admission who have at least 72 semester hours of graduate studies that includes the completion of a master’s degree and also represents broad-based work in Biblical studies, Theological Studies and the Practice of Ministry. The master’s degree will have an AGPA of 3.0 or B and all additional courses must have received a grade of at least B or 3.0.
In addition, each candidate must show evidence of personal faith in Jesus Christ as Lord and of submission to his will. All applicants agree to the Community Standards and signify this by agreement in the application form.

Northwest has three CBTE application intakes each year. Each intake has its own application deadline date. They are:
- 3rd Friday of November for the January 1 intake (opens the third Monday after Sept 1st.)
- 3rd Friday of March - for the May 1 intake (opens the third Monday after Jan 1st.)
- 3rd Friday of July for the September 1 intake (opens the third Monday after May 1st.)
