Can't Teach Leadership - President's Pen

David Horita, the Regional Director of Fellowship Pacific, once shared with me that leadership cannot be fully learned in a classroom alone. While classroom learning has its place, true leadership is best learned through real-life situations where one must lead. Just as medical students can only learn so much about surgery from books and professors before entering the operating room to watch and then perform surgeries, leadership is best taught and learned within the context of watching others lead and then being required to give leadership.

Alumni Connect - Speak Out Jesus!

MK Kim(1)
From July 1 - August 4, 2022, KM Kim drove from Vancouver to Halifax, visiting 43 cities to meet people and preach the gospel. He met 163 people and 27 of them accepted the gospel of Jesus. He also went to churches in the cities to share about his ministry.

If you need encouragement today, read about MK's trip and follow the links in his article to his Instagram and Facebook pages to see the faces of the many people he met.

Alumni Greetings

Greetings, I trust the new year has started well for you.

Among the many activities and plans for the members of the Alumni for 2023, are two graduation ceremonies: the ACTS graduation on April 22, and the Northwest graduation on October 14. This is a time to recognize current graduates of Northwest and welcome them to the Alumni Association. I hope you will be able to attend and represent the alumni at these events.

We plan to increase the size of Alumni News in 2023. We'll include interviews with alumni members, stories shared by the alumni, and information updates on alumni. Articles by alumni, as the one in this Alumni Connect by MK Kim, will remain part of Alumni News, as we have had in the past editions of Northwest News.

The May 6th event will be rescheduled to 2024.

It has been good to hear from many of you. If you have not completed the alumni questionnaire please do so, as we'd love to hear from you.

Blessings,

Gwen Reese, Alumni Director

'Just War' or Just Another War? - Theology Symposium

Pickford Promo
If another war is to be fought in Europe, will it be a “just” war?

It seems unbelievable to us here in North America that within the confines of just over a century we are once again facing a World Wide conflict. If indeed, as all signs seem to be suggesting, we will go to war, the destruction of property and life will far exceed the tens of millions who died between 1914-1945 and in the small regional wars that have been raging since...

In June of 2016, medical assistance in dying (MAiD) became legal in Canada. Since then, MAiD has undergone multiple revisions that have expanded its scope and access. Most recently, Canada gained international attention as our government was set to make MAiD available to those individuals whose sole underlining health concern is mental health. This update to MAiD was set to go into effect in March of 2023, but as of December 15, 2022, this has been temporarily delayed.
Sponsored in part by ACTS Seminary. Financial Assistance available to ACTS students.
We are thankful for the generosity of our donors and friends who support Northwest's ministry of leadership training.
