Introducing our new Dean of Students, Naomi Jepsen!
|

|
We have a new hire here at Northwest who will be working with mentors to help you continue to grow and succeed in your task!
|
|
Naomi is not only our new Dean of Students, but she will also be responsible for working alongside mentors to equip you for your tasks.
|
|
|
|
Naomi’s background is in the coaching industry and in leadership development. She has coached both individuals and coaches, within a host of professional settings, to develop their character, discern their passions, and achieve their best. She has worked with CEOs, entrepreneurs, moms, students… the list goes on! Naomi is well-rounded and fully equipped in this capacity. We are certain that Naomi will expand and strengthen our competence as mentors, developing expertise in each of us. Naomi will be reaching out to mentors in the near future to inquire how things are going, assess what areas you would value support in, and then seek to empower you in your role.

You can expect to see new mentorship materials and training coming your way.

Your Students are Getting Access to Every Book Ever (Basically)
|
You read that title correctly. Northwest is expanding our library services by including a resource called Perlego. This platform provides electronic copies of books for students to access.
|
Do you know how many books it has?
|
(Well, not every single book, but pretty much everything you would ever need for a master’s degree.)
|
As of September 2025, students will be able to access (most) books from our reading lists with the click of a button. In addition, there are endless biblical and theological commentaries, books, monographs, volumes—you name it! Research papers and critical readings will now become far easier to complete.
|
Tell your students about this resource. Shout it from the rooftops!
|
Students will have an increase in fees for library services going forward, but in the long run they will save immensely on buying hardcopy books.
|
|
Let the CBTE world know that our students can read endlessly!

Lead Mentors, Are You Keeping the Ball Rolling?
|
Lead Mentors, are you listening? Ministry and Academic Mentors, are you eavesdropping? You should be.
|
We want to highlight for you the important role that Lead Mentors play in keeping the student on track. Lead Mentors are responsible for checking in with the student when work isn’t being submitted or (heaven forbid) mentors are not engaging with their students.
|
Lead Mentors need to…take the lead.
|
Is this happening in your mentoring group? Is your Lead leading the charge? Are they your student’s greatest ally and supporter, pressing them on to keep at it? Are they bringing you all together on occasion to check in, encourage, and challenge the student?
|
So, Lead Mentors. We need your help. We need you to be the glue that you are and help keep things sticky in CBTE. Keep the students stuck to their program and to finishing. Keep the mentors stuck to their students. Help us all to stick with it!
|
|
And hey, if your Lead Mentor needs a bit of encouragement to re-engage this aspect of their role, give them a gentle nudge and let them know how much you appreciate the work they do. It's a big job!
