President's Pen - Learning to Lead Like Jesus

At Northwest College and Seminary, we stand at a significant turning point in our history. With the difficult but necessary decision to close ACTS in May 2026, we face both challenges and opportunities as we chart our course forward. During this pivotal moment, we are committed to leading into the future with clarity of vision, strategic planning, financial sustainability, and a renewed dedication to serving our stakeholders—especially Fellowship Pacific.

Ruth McGillivray Represents Northwest in Albania

On March 3-7, 2025, our Northwest Executive Vice-President, Ruth McGillivray, had the opportunity to represent Northwest at the triannual ICETE conference for global evangelical theological education. This year's conference was held in Durres, Albania and attended by over 600 educators from Africa, Asia, Europe, Australia, Latin America and North America.
Since 2023, ICETE, the International Council for Evangelical Theological Education, has been facilitating exploration of competency-based theological education (CBTE) as an innovative way to address the critical need for trained pastors to serve the growing church in the majority world. As a pioneer of CBTE in North America, Northwest was invited to share expertise and experience, and collaborate with other educators to strengthen and expand the accessibility of theological education world-wide.

Plus, the idea of travelling across the country playing piano for a singing group appealed to me. So, I’m afraid that my interest in attending Northwest wasn’t very spiritual or lofty, but I did have an interest in delving deeper in my faith...
