President’s Pen – February 2022

Hello! January is all about reporting for us here at Northwest, and as I look back at what happened at Northwest last year, it's a bit dizzying. Leadership transitions, a new building, new media centre, new website, and new competency-based theological education (CBTE) programs including the first ever Korean CBTE program. On top of that, we undertook research with our mentors, students, and churches to understand how to strengthen our existing programs, and learn how we can better meet the needs of leaders in ministry. We have such an incredible team here, and I remain grateful for their hearts, knowledge, and skills.

And now we are ready to expand our team. I'm excited to announce that Gwen Reese, former Northwest Faculty and Registrar and recipient of our Distinguished Service Award, is joining Northwest once again as a volunteer to breathe life back into our alumni communications and connections. As well, we have formally initiated a search for a new President and Academic Dean, and begun looking for new staff in Administration. All job postings are on the Careers page of our new website. If you know people who may be a good fit for our team, please encourage them to inquire!

Finally, I'd like to draw your attention to the memorial service planned on Saturday, March 5th for Northwest's former beloved President, Dr. Rev. Doug Harris. Here's an article with more information about it and information on how you can attend in person or online. There's also a Kudoboard link where you're encouraged to share memories and photos if you have them.

Blessings on you,

Ruth
