Dr. Steven Studebaker will be exploring the theme of atonement from the point of view of the sending of the Holy Spirit at Pentecost, arguing its necessity for any complete biblical view of the atonement.
Dr. Archie Spencer will provide a response, and Katie Austring will be moderating.

Steven M. Studebaker (Ph.D. Marquette University) is Professor of Theology and chair of the department of Biblical and Theological Studies at Trinity Western University. Prior to Trinity, he was Professor of theology at Multnomah University (Portland, OR), Professor of Systematic and Historical Theology and Howard and Shirley Bentall Chair in Evangelical Thought at McMaster Divinity College (Hamilton, ON), and Theology Professor at Emmanuel University (Franklin Springs, GA). He teaches courses on theology and culture, as well as traditional theological topics. He is the author of books on Jonathan Edwards and the Trinity, topics in Pentecostal theology (From Pentecost to the Triune God, A Pentecostal Political Theology, and The Spirit of Atonement), and numerous edited volumes (e.g., Defining Issues in Pentecostalism and Pentecostalism and Globalization).
Archie Spencer has been teaching at ACTS, NBS and TWU for over two decades and occupies the John H. Pickford Chair of Theology. He has published two books, including his substantial treatment of theological method in The Analogy of Faith, (IVP 2015). He has developed an international reputation as a theologian specializing in the theology of Karl Barth, Modern Theology and has expertise in 3rd and 4th century Alexandrian Theology. He was born and raised in the Pentecostal context and has recently published a co-authored review article of Frank Macchia’s magisterial systematic theology set to appear in Pneuma, as well as numerous other articles and reviews.
Katherine J. Austring is currently a graduate candidate in the MA Christian Thought at Trinity Western University. She has recently co-published a review article on Dr. Frank D. Macchia’s new Systematic Theology for Pneuma, The Journal of the Society for Pentecostal Studies. Her background is Pentecostal and her Alma Mater is Vanguard University of Southern California where she earned a degree in Religion and Intercultural Studies. Katie’s primary area of study is Karl Barth’s Pneumatology
